Road Distance and Travel Time Chart from Delhi NCR
Distance is the single biggest factor in what a group trip costs. An outstation Tempo Traveller booking is billed per kilometre, so before you can compare quotes you need to know how far the destination actually is by road. The trouble is that most travel sites bury one distance inside a long article, and the figure you find for a route rarely matches the next site you check. We have compiled the road distances and driving times for the routes we run most often into a single chart, so you can look up a route, multiply by the per km rate, and get a realistic number in a few seconds.
How to read this chart:
- All distances are one way, by road. A return trip is roughly double. Most outstation rentals are billed on the total kilometres run, so a 300 km destination is charged closer to 600 km on a round trip.
- Distances are for the shortest practical route. Where a longer route is common because it is faster or avoids tolls, we have listed it separately rather than averaging the two.
- Driving times assume a tempo traveller, not a car. A loaded 12 to 26 seater climbs slower and needs longer breaks, so hill routes take noticeably more time than a car would.
- Toll, parking and state entry tax are separate. They are charged at actuals on top of the per km fare. State entry tax in particular varies a lot by state and seating capacity, and is set out in full on our Tempo Traveller State Tax Rates page.
Road Distance from Delhi to Popular Destinations

Kedarnath is not in the table above because no vehicle reaches it. The road ends at Gaurikund, 452 KM from Delhi, and from there it is a 16 to 18 kilometre trek that takes about 6 to 10 hours on foot. Anyone quoting you a driving distance to Kedarnath itself is quoting a distance that does not exist. Full route detail is in our guide on how to reach Kedarnath from Delhi. For the complete pilgrimage, see Delhi to Chardham by Tempo Traveller.
Road Distance from Noida, Ghaziabad, Gurgaon and Faridabad
Pickup from your own city saves both time and kilometres. Kainchi Dham and Kumaon Distance Chart
Kainchi Dham has become one of the most requested destinations in the Kumaon hills, and almost everyone who books it wants to add two or three nearby places to the same trip. Distances below are measured from Kainchi Dham itself, so you can plan the order of stops without adding avoidable kilometres.
| From Kainchi Dham to | Distance (one way) |
|---|---|
| Bhimtal | 19 KM |
| Nainital | 20 KM |
| Ranikhet | 38 KM |
| Mukteshwar | 44 KM |
| Almora | 45 KM |
| Jageshwar Dham | 80 KM |
| Ramnagar (for Jim Corbett) | 83 KM |
| Kausani | 96 KM |
| Kathgodam Railway Station | 38 KM |
| Pantnagar Airport | 70 KM |
Kathgodam is the nearest railhead at 38 KM and Pantnagar the nearest airport at 70 KM, which is why most groups arriving by train or air still need a vehicle for the last leg. More on the surrounding stops in our guide to places to visit near Kainchi Dham.
Himachal Distance Chart - Kasol, Manikaran and Manali
The Parvati Valley routes are short in kilometres but slow in practice, because the roads are narrow and single lane in places. Kasol to Manikaran is the shortest leg on this whole page and still takes longer than the distance suggests.
| Route | Distance (one way) | Driving Time |
|---|---|---|
| Kasol to Manikaran | 3.5 to 4.5 KM | - |
| Manali to Kasol | 75 to 80 KM | 3-4 Hours |
| Chandigarh to Kasol | 250 KM | 7-8 Hours |
| Chandigarh to Shimla | 115 KM | 3-4 Hours |
| Chandigarh to Manali | 310 KM | 8-10 Hours |
| Chandigarh to Amritsar | 230 KM | 4-5 Hours |
| Chandigarh to Dharamshala | 240 KM | 5-6 Hours |
The exact Kasol to Manikaran figure depends on where in Kasol you start, which is why it is given as a range rather than a single number. Route notes are in our Kasol and Manikaran trip guide. For the drive up from the plains, see Delhi to Manali Tempo Traveller.
Rajasthan Pilgrimage Circuit Distance Chart
The Khatu Shyam - Salasar Balaji - Sanwariya Seth circuit is one of the few itineraries where knowing the leg distances genuinely changes the plan. The Salasar to Sanwariya Seth leg alone is 390 KM and takes most of a day, so it has to be a driving day on its own rather than one squeezed between two temple visits.
| Leg | Distance (one way) | Driving Time |
|---|---|---|
| Jaipur to Khatu Shyamji | 80 KM | 2 Hours |
| Khatu Shyamji to Salasar Balaji | 130 KM | 3 Hours |
| Salasar Balaji to Sanwariya Seth (Mandphiya) |
390 KM | 7-8 Hours |
| Sanwariya Seth to Nathdwara | 80 KM | 2 Hours |
| Nathdwara to Pushkar | 150 KM | 3.5 Hours |
| Full circuit total | 830 KM | 4 Days |
The Salasar to Sanwariya Seth stretch runs via the Ajmer - Beawar bypass on NH 48 and is best started by 6:00 AM. The complete day by day plan is in our Rajasthan pilgrimage circuit guide.
Ujjain and Omkareshwar Distance Chart
| Route | Distance (one way) | Driving Time |
|---|---|---|
| Delhi to Ujjain (Mahakaleshwar) | 720 KM | 13-15 Hours |
| Ujjain to Omkareshwar | 145 KM | 3-4 Hours |
Mahakaleshwar is inside Ujjain, so the Delhi to Ujjain figure is also the Delhi to Mahakaleshwar figure. Two of the twelve Jyotirlingas sit 145 KM apart here, which is why most groups cover both on one trip. Details in our Mahakaleshwar and Omkareshwar tour guide.
How Distance Turns Into Your Fare
Once you have the distance, the fare is mostly arithmetic. Outstation trips are charged on the total kilometres the vehicle runs, which means the return leg counts even if you do not travel back in it.
- Round trip kilometres: take the one way distance from the chart and double it. A Delhi to Jaipur round trip is about 560 KM of running, not 280 KM.
- Minimum kilometres per day: multi day trips carry a daily minimum, so a short day still bills a minimum distance. This is why a 2 day trip to a 240 KM destination and a 2 day trip to a 300 KM destination often cost the same.
- Local runs are packaged, not per km: city use is sold as an 8 hour / 80 KM package. Beyond that, extra hours and extra kilometres are charged separately.
- Driver allowance is per day, not per km: it is charged at Rs 600 per day regardless of how far the vehicle runs.
- Toll, parking and state entry tax are extra: all at actuals. On a route crossing two or three states the entry tax alone can be a meaningful part of the bill - see the state tax rate chart.
